This former air raid shelter in Thebarton was built to serve as a control centre during the height of World War II. It had 16 telephone lines – 6 in and 10 out – that allowed personnel to respond to any enemy attack. During the war, it was also used to stockpile supplies such as food, blankets and batteries.
